Smart Locker solution for Nestlé UK Headquarters

The background and challenge

After moving its UK Headquarters to a modern building with upgraded technology and facilities, Nestlé needed a mailroom solution to match.

The world’s largest food and beverage company is an existing OmniPost customer, using ExPD’s internal mail tracking solution to track post and parcels to and through the building.

However, to support a collaborative office environment and hybrid-working teams, the organisation required a secure location to store personal mail for over 400 employees.

EXPD’s Summit Smart Locker software was integrated with OmniPost to provide an OmniPost Smart Locker solution.

The solution

Smart Lockers, fitted with Summit technology revolutionised the efficiency of Nestlé’s office space for package pick-ups.

When parcels are delivered to the building, the mailroom staff place them directly in a specific locker. Once loaded, an email is sent to the recipient informing them that their package has arrived, with a QR code. This access code is specific to them – that way, no package can fall into the wrong hands.

When the employee comes to collect their item(s), they scan their QR code on the barcode scanner on the locker. This opens the relevant locker, allowing the items to be collected.

Recipients can retrieve packages at their convenience, at all times when the office is open.

The result

Nestlé had 31 locker doors custom built by ExPD, in different sizes to accommodate a range of items, and in sleek white to match its modern cafeteria. The lockers were installed in the space, accessible only by employees, to ensure safety and security.

After installation by ExPD’s specialist teams, Nestlé’s mailroom staff were trained on how to use the lockers with OmniPost, including the intuitive locker interface.

OmniPost Smart Lockers automatically manage all of the admin process of internal mail tracking, which has greatly reduced the burden on Nestlé’s mailroom staff to keep stock of which parcels have been delivered and where.
